General Assembly
General Assembly is the YI’s apex decision-making body that consists of all general members. It meets annually in an AGM. The AGM reviews the institutional progress, provides strategic direction and approves work plans and budgets. Once in every two year, the General Assembly elects a new Executive Committee. It provides Executive Committee certain day-to-day policy making mandates and creates special committees for specific assignments, if any. YI continues increasing membership and developing their capacity through in-house trainings and exposure opportunities. New member’s can join YI after getting thorough orientation from YI. . Associate members are those members who are only associated with the YI through its ongoing programs. They are given membership to recognise their contribution and dedication towards YI mission. Associate members have no voting rights and are not eligible to participate in General Assembly's closed session. The tenure of associate membership is for one year.
Executive Committee
A total of 11 elected members constitute YI Executive Committee as per the constitutional provision. The Executive Committee is the only authorised body to execute policies, plans and mandates approved by the General Assembly. Democratic culture in organisational leadership is consistently practiced. This feature reflects the dynamic nature of leadership in the organisation.
Leadership transaction and transform takes place every two years within the defined age bar of 16 to 29 years as a mandatory provision of YI constitution.
Management Committee
Management Committee is the supreme management mechanism led by the Executive Director. It consists of Programme Manager, Programme/Project Officers, Admin/Finance Officers and Information and Communication Officers. The Management Committee is responsible for overall management of the organisation and implementation of the programmes.
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee consists of five members – President, Vice-President, General-Secretary, Treasurer and Secretary of the Executive Committee. It has mandates to take necessary policy decisions and facilitate operation of the organisation subject to ratification by the Executive Committee.
Board of Advisers
YI has a Board of Advisers, which provides advices and consultations as per need of the organisation. Currently there are seven Board of Advisers. Every two years, the newly elected Executive Committee appoints members to the Board as Advisers.
Board of Trustees
YI’s Board of Trustees consists of nine members. The Board is appointed by the newly elected Executive Committee during the AGM. The number of Board of Trustee members is decided by the Executive Committee. The tenure of such a Board is the same as that of the Executive Committee. To be eligible for Board of Trustee, one should be a life member of YI and must serve as YI Executive Committee member for at least one full term. He/She should not be the member of current Executive Committee. The Board of Trustee provides overall mentorship to the organisation and the Executive Committee and plays an active advisory role to support the Executive Committee as required, in course of major institutional decisions, including financial decisions.
Secretariat
YI has its Secretariat in its head office in Kathmandu. The Secretariat is run by the Steering Committee and staff. It bridges the Executive Committee/Steering Committee and the Management Committee.
Offices and Staffs
YI has a head office in Kathmandu. It has its contact offices in 10 strategic locations of Nepal. The contact offices are run and managed by a Strategic Location Coordinator and accompanied by youth volunteers. Staff in the head office in Kathmandu consist of Executive Director, Program Manager, Officers (Programme/Project Officer, Admin/Finance Officers, Monitoring and Evaluation and Information and Communication Officer) and Assistants (Programme Assistant and Office Assistant) as regular.
