Broader development agendas demand local participation. The only way to ensure such participation is through the elections at local level, However, it has been 18 years since the Local level elections were last held; and, young people of Nepal have no experience of local election and they are unknown to the works of locally elected representatives. In grassroot level, there has been vacuum of local elected representative for long. In this context, on 7 July 2016, YI discussed on a topic local election and role of Youth in a monthly discussion series. Speaker of the series was Mr. Ramesh Adhikari, Legislative and Political Process Specialist in USAID. Mr. Ramesh Adhikari shared his view on local election and role of youth.

In open floor discussion, some queries put by participants were:
- The possibility of conducting election in free and fair manner in Nepal, local body reconstruction and decentralization.
- Democracy related with prosperity and rights
- Role of civil society for making democracy strong with positive message.
